pop quiz: who can be a fashionista? pick the statement below that is most correct (and don’t forget to make your marks heavy and dark).
(a) no one – that shit’s expensive
(b) rich people (see option “a” above)
(c) ladies who look like high fashion models
(d) everyone
if you picked “a,” i commend your potty mouth. “b” and “c” are true; however, the best answer is “d.” seriously. everyone can be fashionable. fashion is a sense of (and extension of) self. i have been a sucker for style since i was a child. i grew up in a small town in western kentucky, but my mama would take my sister and me to the big city once a season to update our wardrobes. having a closet full of unique clothing was fantastic; i felt like i could express my individuality without, you know, declaring it aloud at the end of every sentence. très chic.
now the resident of a fabulous neighborhood in indianapolis, i have noticed that this city’s attire is, well, sometimes uninspired. i could have gone one of two ways with my own wardrobe: buy some less conspicuous clothing and blend in, or stand out and wear my pearls on the daily. forget diamonds; i say pearls are a girl’s best friend. in the end, i decided to adhere to my personal motto, “challenge conventionality.” my style is elegant, girly, sometimes bold, sometimes glam. my closets (plural) house everything from designer pieces to secondhand steals to lots and lots of heels. my goal is to bring a little southern charm, some personality, and lots of style confidence (oh, and an excuse to play dress-up, tbh) to the 317.
check out my budding fashion blog at staceystallons.com/blog. i’ve dubbed it #mythursdaythreads, updated every thursday. check out my instagram page for outfit inspiration, as well. while you’re here, take a look at my original art, too. i do commissions! no more bare walls, you guys. i can make empty spaces “pop.” please leave me some love and/or feedback. let’s be fashionistas and art lovers together.
hugs, y’all.
what to expect this thursday: i’ll be discussing and perfecting my 2018 spring wardrobe trends and covetable pieces.
also, i’d be remiss if i didn’t thank my husband of 11 years, jay, for his constant support of my creative endeavors; it allows me the time and ability to do all this really cool stuff, and i am forever grateful to him.
