i am a sucker for mid-century modern art and design. while my house is a 1902 colonial revival, much of my furniture and decor are straight out of an episode of mad men. the “pop” feel of the 1950s and 1960s is fascinating to me, hence my exploration of this pop theme in my dot series paintings. these pieces represent pattern and form juxtaposed by eye-catching abstract expressionist foreground elements. this disjointed feel was the inspiration for my dot series. understanding pattern versus chaos is a fantastic way of further understanding the human mind. conformity is never predictable, and attempts to explain the inexplicable are often lacking resolution.
