my “heavy walls” series is an examination in incongruity:  the things in one’s life that cause them to put up walls or barriers against the world.  these pieces depict the contrast between order and disorder, light and shadow, fear and hope.  the texture added by the thick paint and fabric helps perpetuate the theme of constant versus variable.  while the mood of the pieces communicates an initial sense of darkness, my ultimate intention is to leave the viewer with a sense of awareness and, perhaps, even renewal.
