green pumps get the green light: spring 2018 style

when meeting new people, i ask them a question that often gives them pause.  i enjoy catching people off guard a bit (like my southern accent doesn’t do that already), but i think it is one of the most important questions we’ll ever consider: “what is your passion?”  they’re expecting me to ask them, “what do you do for a living?” or some other trite nicety.  whether or not you’re getting paid to pursue your passion, i’d still love to hear more about what inspires you (as opposed to, say, telling me your ten-words-too-long job title).

one of my passions is fashion, hence the blog.  #mythursdaythreads isn’t meant to be a one-size-fits-all site.  i have bold tastes; also, i am 5 feet 11 inches tall (sans stilettos), so there’s that.  i adore style and design.  this blog is the perfect way for me to share my love of stylish and glam clothing and accessories with my readers, and add a splash of southern color to the 317.

spring forward

speaking of color, spring 2018 is going to be fan-effing-tastic.  seeing the vibrant hues on fashion sites, in magazines, and on instagram has me longing for spring.  seriously, though, check out some of these hot looks from the spring 2018 runways:  harper’s bazaar runway recap.  i went to a cocktail party last weekend, and i wore my bright green nine west heels (pictured above).  i found them on one of my favorite online consignment sites, tradesy.com, for 19 bucks!  they were brand-spanking new.  if i had my way, i’d wear walter steiger every day, but, you know, #money.  i can just hear cher horowitz say “as if” in one of her fab tartan print outfits.  the bright side:  you don’t have to go broke to look fabulous.  i like to mix and match pricey and less-expensive brands.  my closets and my wallet thank me.

spring 2018’s trends are flirty and bold, with a few ’90s throwbacks thrown in for good measure (i’ll soon be channeling my inner robert plant in my bell-bottom jeans, it seems), but with a more “fresh” finish (no more contouring necessary!).  below is my “must have” list, outlining some of my most coveted trends and pieces for spring 2018. for each, there’s a splurge option (pictured left), as well as the “conserve” (i.e. more budget-friendly) option (pictured right).

oh, and one more thing…

if you want to start saving now for your fall 2018 closet, signs are pointing to plaid:  pumps, skirts, blazers, handbags… seems my earlier cher horowitz “clueless” reference was more relevant than i’d realized.
[below:  check out the gorgeous manolo blahnik bb plaid pumps, $695.  um. yes, please!]

hugs, y’all.
